HANAJANA | Our sustainability

Made ethically in Bali Do you have any idea why this island? If you think that we are making our activewear here for one reason only, and that is cheap labor, working in terrible conditions, we would like to mislead you. Everybody who knows our brand knows that we have been sewing our clothes in Bali for several years. It is an island that we literally love, and when we found a sportswear workshop after a long search, which meets all our requirements and has great experience in the field (more than 30 years!) It was a clear choice for us. We personally visited the sewing workshop several times. We know in what environment and under what conditions seamstresses, tailors and the whole team work and also that they receive a fair salary (higher than usual in Bali), 13th salary, 25 days holiday, lunch, health insurance, which also covers to family members. Everything is sewn in a clean workshop with air conditioning (this is really important in Bali). So we can say with a clear conscience that the production is ethical and that all employees take proper care of this workshop. Our first collection "DREAMLAND" is sewn only in limited quantities to avoid excess stocks. We had eco-friendly scrunchies sewn from the remnants of fabrics, which go perfectly with our sports sets. The products (Canggu, Uluwatu, Seminyak, Ubud, Nusa Dua, Amed) are named after Balinese cities.

Fabric #fromwastetowear

Did you know that more than 300 million tonnes of plastics are produced each year, 90% of which are not recycled? To make matters worse, another 8 million tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean each year = 1 garbage truck per minute.

Our printed sportswear is made of high quality Italian fabric. 100% recycled from plastic bottles, This fabric is made of a yarn derived from post industrial and post consumer waste materials (bottles, films…), offering the same features of virgin polyester. It is compact, non-see-through, strong, with a pleasant hand feel and ensures the right muscular support during exercise.

Fishing nets are responsible for 46% of waste in the oceans. Every year, 640,000 tonnes of fishing gear are lost / discarded in the oceans. Most of these nets get caught on corals, killing fish, turtles, dolphins and endangering marine life. It is from these caught fishing nets and other industrial waste, including old carpets, that recycled nylon yarn ECONYL® is produced.

Plain leggings and bras are sewn from high-quality Italian fabric. Vita Power by Carvico: one of sustainable techno-fabric, made of a ECONYL® regenerated Nylon, which boasts excellent recovery power and always the perfect muscular compression aimed at decreasing the production of lactic acid, thus boosting a faster recovery of energy. Soft and pleasant on the skin, compact and breathable, it is also highly UV protective ( UPF 50+).

Certificate The recycled material is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. This means that the final product has been tested for all chemicals that may be harmful and has been found not to contain any trace chemicals that would pose a health risk.

Packing #iamnotplastic We care about our packaging. The package in which you receive the order is sent in a decomposable envelope that is environmentally friendly. Envelopes are designed to be 100% recyclable. It has double gluing so you can use it again. The clothes are packed in a "plastic free" bag made of tapioca. This package is composted and can become, for example, a fertilizer for your plant. The box in which everything is stored is sealed with paper tape. The advantage is the ecological disposal of the box together with the adhesive tape.
